Lyft Drivers Pickup, DropOff Passengers at Sacramento International Airport

Sacramento, CA October 19, 2015 –  Transportation Network Company (TNC) Lyft has signed an agreement with Sacramento International Airport allowing drivers to operate at the airport.  Lyft applied for a permit under the airport's TNC procedure. The Lyft agreement went into effect this afternoon (Oct. 19).

The permit applies to all Lyft drivers.  Passengers can meet Lyft cars where hotel shuttles and offsite cab companies pick up passengers: at the west end of Terminal A and the south end of Terminal B, outside door 1.

TNCs provide a network of independent contractors driving private vehicles. Drivers are matched with passengers via a phone- or tablet-based app. TNCs are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC), which sets the requirements for safety and liability.

"People in Sacramento have embraced Lyft as an affordable, convenient way to get around their city and we're excited to begin permitted operations at Sacramento International Airport," said Bakari Brock, Senior Director, Airport and Venue Development for Lyft.

"Transportation Network Companies are very popular with our customers, and Lyft now joins the wide selection of ground transportation options available for getting to and from Sacramento International Airport," said John Wheat, Director of Airports for the Sacramento County Dept. of Airports.
