Volunteer Efforts Save Sacramento County Millions

Outstanding volunteers of 2013 honored by Board of Supervisors - April 7, 2014
 
Who: Ten individuals and groups will be recognized as Sacramento County’s Outstanding Volunteers of 2013
 
When: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 9:30 a.m.
 
Where: Board Chambers, First Floor, 700 H Street, Sacramento, 95814. The Sacramento community will meet some very special people who impact the County in a tremendous way.
 
  • A volunteer couple who have dedicated their skills, time, and talents to the 4-H Youth Development Program for 16 years.

  • A group of volunteers who have a combined contribution of more than 3,000 hours in 2013 dedicated to organizing an effort to revitalize a business district into an economically thriving, vibrant, and sustainable business corridor.

  • An individual volunteer who donates her time- a lot of time - to help kids at risk through the Sheriff’s Community Impact Program, the Sheriff’s Athletic League, the Youth Services Unit, and more.
 
In 2013, Sacramento County used 2,757 volunteers and interns who donated more than 531,974 hours. The monetary value of this contribution is a staggering $13,166,380.  A ceremonial check will be presented to the Board of Supervisors at Tuesday’s event followed by recognition of the volunteers.
