SMF Seeks Proposals for Customer Lounge

Retail and Convenience Concessions in Terminal A.

SACRAMENTO, CA. March 28, 2014 —  Sacramento International  Airport is seeking business proposals to create a new airport-operated lounge, two retail outlets and a new convenience concession in Terminal A.

Airport-operated lounges allow customers to enjoy complimentary food and beverages, watch TV, read newspapers and magazines, and relax in a quiet environment. The lounge is open to customers for a daily fee, regardless of airline or travel status.

Airport-operated lounges are commonplace in international airports but are an emerging trend in the US.
The lounge would be located post-security, as would the two new retail concessions. The convenience concession -- a category that includes coffee and grab-and-go snacks – would be located on the 1st floor.

Proposals are due June 6 with a mandatory pre-proposal conference scheduled for April 17. Reservations for the pre-proposal meeting are due by April 10. Selection of vendors is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014.

“We wanted to freshen up some of the amenities at Terminal A, and airport-operated lounges have been very popular with passengers at other airports,” said John Wheat, Director of Airports.
